About Me

About a year ago, I started to consider running for School Committee because I am deeply committed to our schools and want to make a difference within our school district.  I decided that now is the right time to put my volunteer efforts into serving on the School Committee.

I have been living in Boxborough since 2010 and reside here with my husband, 2 kids (in the district), dog and cat.

Since 2012, I have been an avid volunteer in local government serving on the Boxborough Recreation Commission (RecCom), of which I am currently Chair.  While on RecCom I have led multiple Community Preservation Act (CPA) funded recreation projects, contributed to the Boxborough 2030 Master Plan and multiple Open Space and Recreation Plans, and served on the Community Preservation Commission (CPC). I have worked with the Select Board and Finance Committee, presented at multiple Town Meetings, and collaborated with the Town Administrator on a request for a state budget earmark.  I led the RecCom effort for capital improvements to Liberty Field, gaining overwhelming approval at the 2021 Annual Town Meeting. As a long-time volunteer in Boxborough, I have been able to engage with many residents over the years.  I am empathetic to their many concerns, including increasing budget costs within the school district.

When my son entered the district at Blanchard in 2017, I immediately jumped right into engaging with the district and continue to this day. I look forward to the monthly Community Coffees with the principal and vice-principal.  I attend nearly every school event and volunteer at any opportunity to help out.  Apart from Blanchard, I have volunteered with Project Graduation at ABRHS and at RJ Grey student events.  I truly love walking into the schools and interacting with the students, teachers and staff.  I served on the Blanchard PTF Board for four years, with two as the Vice Chair.  As Vice Chair, I was in charge of fundraisers and organized events and also attended Joint PTO meetings with other elementary schools, district administration and School Committee representatives.  My time spent helping in the schools has provided me the opportunity to get to know the teachers, staff, students and families and understand their perspectives, concerns and needs.

Apart from my volunteer work, I earned my Bachelor of Science from the University of South Carolina and Master of Science from Northeastern.  For the past 25 years I have been working in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry in Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs.

With my experience in local government and my engagement in the school district — along with a commitment to listening, collaborating, and being transparent — I believe I can contribute meaningfully as a School Committee member and help move our district in a positive direction.
